The Opportunity

Reporting to the Second Class - Chief Operating Engineer, the Third Class - Operating Engineer will be responsible for installing, maintaining, repairing the industrial refrigeration and air conditioning systems, operating and repairing boiler and steam systems and combined heating, ventilation and cooling systems at the Canopy Growth Corporation campus in Smiths Falls.
Responsibilities
  • Operate automated control systems
  • Monitor and inspect plant equipment
  • Measure temperature flow and pressure
  • Analyze and record instrument readings and equipment malfunction
  • Troubleshoot, perform corrective action or minor repairs as required
  • Perform routine equipment maintenance
  • Clean and lubricate machinery and components
  • Maintain daily log of operation, maintenance and safety activities
  • Write plant or building operation reports
  • Assist in the development of operation, maintenance and safety procedures
  • Work with other departments to maintain all related facility equipment
  • Other duties as assigned
Experience

  • Operating Engineer Certification, 3rd Class
  • Must be proficient in the use of the Refrigeration Code and ensure proper handling of equipment and hand tools
  • Must have a full understanding of the TSSA Operating Engineers Regulations "Ontario Regulations 219/01"
  • Must be able to read and understand blueprints
  • Experience with computerized control systems, high and low pressure boilers, pumps, compressors, motors, switches, valves, gauges, alarms, meters, ammonia refrigeration, cooling towers, HVAC, electronic controls, programmable logic controllers (PLC) and Freon Refrigeration Air Handling Units an asset
