Our small business is located in
Portland, ME. We are biased — but we are pretty sure we are a cool place to work for. Honestly, the job is not all roses and puppy dogs — there is some good news and there is some bad news.

Let’s get the bad news out of the way first:

1. The hours are a little weird. At first, we have have about 20 hours a week, and then as you start to get more familiar with our business, it might grow to 30 hours a week or even full-time. So if you’re looking for something full-time to start or want to squeeze our work in next to another job, then this is no longer the “coolest” part-time job ever; it just became the “suckiest” and probably isn’t a good fit.

2. We’re looking for someone who can join the team with these part-time hours but feel like this is their full-time home. This is NOT a good fit for someone who is looking to build their own business.

3. Review points 1 & 2.

Now let’s talk about the good stuff:

1. The pay is competitive but you won’t get rich as this job. The pay is $18/hour.
2. Our facility is conveniently located off the highway and in a fairly private location for Portland. You don’t have to worry about finding a parking spot and can even enjoy lunch outside.
3. The work is fun, fresh and dynamic. You will be working directly for our co-founder, Janelle, and helping her with a mix of projects and support.
4. We aren’t big on stress. So, while we will expect you to work efficiently and get things done, we focus on open communication and getting things done right the first go around.
5. You don’t have to run your own business! Maybe you’ve been around that block and it wasn’t for you. Now you can have all the benefits of supporting people create products for their businesses without the headaches and expenses of actually building your own empire. It’s like the best of both worlds!

Now, let’s talk about the job requirements:

1. You need to be fired up about our mission to help cannabis business within our niche, design an
infused product line that serves their clientele. We want to make their vision come to life and deliver in a punctual manner so they can use their time to focus on what they do best

2. You are an experienced chocolatier and truly love all aspects of working in the kitchen… including dishwashing. The majority of your time will be spent creating infused chocolate products as well as a few other confection type edibles for various Maine cannabis businesses. Basic mathematic ability is also extremely important for this role as well as attention to cleanliness.

3. You’re the type person who gets joy out of getting things done. Every day, you will bang out a list of stuff. Fun stuff. Important stuff. Necessary stuff. You love lists and checking things off diligently…

and maybe you’re even one of those people who writes things on that list just so you can check it off. That’s great, we love people like you!

4. You love nailing down the details. You don’t need to race through work and get things done half- assed (that’s the exact opposite mindset we need). We need you to have an eye for the bigger picture and get projects done correctly and efficiently.

5. You are meticulous in your work. If you are shy or quiet (which actually sounds perfect for us) that is totally cool. We are not looking for the life of the party...in fact, quite the opposite. We are looking for a good, fun person, who gets things done.

6. You have an eye for design and creating aesthetically pleasing products. You’re great at creating products that are visually pleasing. After all, we first taste with our eyes.

7. You are not attached to your cell-phone like it’s an extension of your body. While we all enjoy keeping in touch with people, there is a time and place for it. If you love to immerse yourself in projects without distractions and achieve a “flow-state” this is the job for you! Your hands will be very busy preparing food items and following the “do’s and don’ts of food handling is a must.

8. You share our company values.
1. Make it your best work
2. And to have fun at work (who wants a job that isn’t fun?!?). Our workplace is casual, but we do expect professionalism and punctuality.

But what we don’t expect is perfection for you to qualify for this job. Tools are teachable but we do expect you to have a solid understanding of working with chocolate and a keen interest in expanding your abilities.
