Position Summary:

The VP, Scientific R&D is responsible for the scientific direction of the company and for developing and implementing the company’s scientific strategy. The VP oversees the research and development (R&D) department, which is responsible for creating new products and technologies, and its staff. He/she works closely with the CEO and other senior executives to ensure that the company’s products and technologies are aligned with the company’s business goals and advance Fluresh’s reputation as a leader in the industry. He/she works with the marketing and sales departments to ensure that the company’s products are positioned correctly in the marketplace and that they meet customer needs.

The VP is expected to stay updated on technological advances and industry trends and to advise the Company’s's senior management in scientific matters. This may include making recommendations on future projects, such as new research opportunities or technological ventures.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Lead science-focused strategic planning activities, such as identifying new research opportunities, assessing potential commercial applications of research, and developing long-term research plans
  • Direct research on current areas of interest such as conversion of cannabinoids into water soluble products; optimizing plant feed formulations; developing unique, alternative methods for extraction of cannabinoids
  • Develop research and new product development proposals, budgets, and timelines for new projects
  • Lead development of patentable innovations
  • Manage the Company’s research budget to ensure that projects are properly funded, completed on time, and within budget
  • Establish alliances with industry organizations, government agencies, and academic instititues that have similar research interests or goals in order to keep up with and advance industry knowledge
  • Represent the scientific goals and interests of the company at press conferences, meetings, conventions and shareholder events

Required Experience, Education, and Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, pharmacy, or food science or related field is required from an accredited college or university
  • 3-5 years experience as a Laboratory Technician/Manager in a raw materials, brand products, or contract manufacturing company required
  • 7+ years of experience in industry, academia, and/or consumer product / cannabis research organizations preferred
  • Experience in the consumer health and beauty aids industry or the food industry working on a variety of products is highly preferred
  • Working knowledge and experience in GMP, GAP, GLP regulated environments
  • Lab Information Management Systems (LIMS) experience is required
  • Experience leading sensory panel testing is required
  • Practical/production knowledge of nano particle reduction, nano emulstification, and product formulation technologies.
  • Understanding of and actions to undertake from Sap analysis
  • Proven record of strategic research leadership, including the ability to drive innovative, collaborative, and interdisciplinary research programs and partnerships with multiple stakeholders
  • Excellent people manager and mentor of scientific staff to build high-performing teams
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills to scientific, patient, and lay audiences

This position will be responsible for building and implementing the overall Service Center strategies. This leader will provide leadership, planning, and management for the development of a service center and facilitate efficient HR operations to meet current and future business needs.</p><p>The HR Shared Services organization is accountable for responding to HR-related inquiries from managers, employees, and HR Business Partners, processing transactional support for HR functions, and championing continuous HR processes improvements.</p><p>Core Job Duties</p><p>• Implement a National Employee Services model: Design and implement a centralized employee support delivery model, delivering HR support and interactions to employees across key moments in the employee lifecycle in a unified, consistent, compliant manner.</p><p>• Partner closely with HRBPs and leaders across the HR team to assess existing programs, processes, and practices and identify opportunities to centralize and improve HR service delivery</p><p>• Define an end-to-end roadmap and governance model enabling the transition of work into the shared services team.
