District Manager

We’re looking for positive-minded, knowledgeable, and compassionate thinkers to join our mission. If you love the idea of leading a movement to usher in new ways to help people discover and enjoy cannabis, see our open jobs.

Location:

Sebastopol, CA

Reports to CEO

Job

Purpose:

Your purpose is to ensure operational excellence for existing Solful stores and to plan, manage, and execute Solful's ambitious growth plans of opening multiple new stores per year.

WHO WE ARE

We believe in the power of cannabis to cultivate health and happiness.

Cannabis can help people lead healthier, richer lives. We’ve seen how cannabis has helped our own families and friends fight an illness, manage anxiety, and bring new types of creativity into their lives. It’s the reason we founded Solful as a different kind of cannabis retail experience. We’re on a mission to not only educate our guests, but learn from them also.

We want to dispel old stereotypes about cannabis and replace them with objective information and learned understanding about how cannabis can improve lives. We want to lead a movement that brings cannabis into the mainstream conversation about the health of our bodies, spirits, and our ever-evolving culture. We’ve gotten started in Northern California, and we have ambitions to influence conversations and experiences around cannabis nationally.

We’re believers in the positive power of cannabis. And we need team members who share in this belief. Whether working with seasoned cannabis users or curious newbies, our team members are responsible for offering expertise and perspective on the ways cannabis products can help restore balance in the human body. Our team acts as both listeners and educators who are skilled at sharing their knowledge with our customers in relevant and approachable ways.

They bring positivity, perspective, and compassion to every interaction with Solful customers.

We believe in using our business to support People and Planet.

Each month, Solful touches thousands of lives—from our customers, cultivators, and our community. We see this as a platform we can use to make meaningful social and environmental impacts. We source the absolute highest quality cannabis that has the lightest possible impact on the environment. We collaborate with people and organizations who promote social and environmental initiatives that align with our mission and values.

We seek out and partner with cultivators who practice regenerative farming methods that help restore and protect the health of our planet. And most importantly, we exist to meaningfully support the health and happiness of all of our stakeholders.

We believe that relationships are everything.

Solful exists to enrich our community—team members, customers, farmers, supply partners, neighbors, community groups, and others. We see our stores as focal points for building new relationships, and strengthening existing bonds. Building a movement that makes cannabis as normal a part of our days as visiting the farmer’s market or coffee shop means connecting with people on a personal level and staying connected so that we can evolve the ways Solful can help improve people’s lives.

We believe in doing cannabis differently.

We’re all responsible for identifying and bringing to life what’s next in the cannabis industry. From how we engage with customers to how we train team members, we’re breaking new ground in what defines a positive cannabis retail experience. We empower team members to take initiative in their work, support them to grow to their fullest potential, and foster deep relationships in our team through social events and visits to supply partners to see how our amazing products are made.

And whether a team member is helping customers on the sales floor, managing accounts payable, or developing a marketing strategy for the next quarter, we are a connected culture that works together to explore new ways to bring our purpose to life across every aspect of the business.

We believe this is the beginning of an incredible ride.

The legal cannabis industry in California and many other states is just a few years old. The level of acceptance by consumers, along with the investment, innovation and evolution taking place tells us that things are just getting started. This requires us to embrace an entrepreneurial spirit, think beyond the obvious, and always push ourselves to pursue our boldest visions—while at the same time setting the standard for service, empowerment, and professionalism.

WHO YOU ARE

You are a skilled and savvy operations leader.

Ensure the seamless daily operations of each Solful store.

Collaborate across company functions to support the needs of daily operations at each Solful store.

You are highly experienced and skilled at opening new retail stores.

Develop and execute a new store opening “playbook” to open approximately three new stores per year.

Lead the focused, "on the ground" effort to open new Solful stores and facilitate the smooth transition to “permanent” store-level management.

You embody Solful's leadership traits: serve and empower your colleagues, and you model the behaviors you seek to instill in others.

Inspire and motivate store leadership to deliver on Solful's leadership traits on a daily basis.

Serve as a resource to your direct reports in each store's leadership team.

You are an entrepreneur.

Work effectively in a small but growing organization to “roll up your sleeves” and ‘get the job done’.

You have a “glass-half-full” attitude and approach to everything you do

You can accept and effectively manage ambiguity

You positively embrace and overcome challenges inherent in a fast-paced and fluid business environment by anticipating various scenarios and proactively preparing for them

You appreciate structure and can create it if/when it is required but it doesn’t yet exist

A Knowledgeable, thoughtful, professional, detailed and thorough approach with regard to all elements of retail operations.

Action-driven, embraces best practices.

Great communication skills (written and verbal).
