Dispensary Assistant Manager
POSITION SUMMARY

The Assistant Manager is responsible for establishing and maintaining guest services. They are responsible for the various tasks involved in the overall operation of a store including measuring business trends, maximizing sales/profitability by developing staff, controlling expenses, shortages and all aspects of merchandising and inventory control. This position is responsible for understanding and implementing compliant work processes to guarantee that our product and processes meet all relevant state regulations. The assistant manager is also expected to be flexible with their schedule and be willing to do any tasks required to keep operations running smoothly. The assistant manager is expected to have a high standard of professionalism, and any steps required by company policy or state regulation.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Ensuring that each guest receives outstanding guest service by providing a guest friendly environment which includes greeting and acknowledging every guest, maintaining outstanding standards, solid product knowledge and all other components of guest service
  • Recruiting, training, developing, and communicating with all staff as well as assess performance on a regular basis
  • Implementing and maintaining Guest Service standards
  • Maintaining all merchandising standards, display presentation, signing standards and monitor inventory levels
  • Planning and assigning daily goals, tasks and assignments; assuring proper completion through follow-up
  • Assisting in monitoring sales performance, through the analysis of sales reports and comparison shopping; assisting in adjusting strategies
  • Maintaining adherence to all Company policies and procedures
  • Managing all office tasks including management of funds and media, receiving, inventory, and payroll
  • Act as a leader in professionalism and expertise.
  • Maintain education and knowledge of relevant state and local cannabis laws and regulations.
  • Inform staff of all new products.
  • Ensure all inventory is properly catalogued.
  • Ensure all technology platforms, such as METRC, are constantly updated with the most accurate product descriptions and inventory amounts.
  • Keep all departments abreast of any concerns and ensure you are being proactive.
  • Keep management informed about all staffing concerns.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.

RECORDKEEPING

The assistant manager is expected to generate and maintain records related to:

  • Staff scheduling
  • Any other specific record keeping required by regulations or requested by management

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:

  • At least 3-4 years of retail sales experience in a high-volume environment.
  • Ability to manage high-stress situations and to be flexible and adaptable when a situation requires it.
  • Proper employment documentation and authorized to work in the US
  • Must be a minimum of 21 years-of-age
  • Ability to process information/merchandise through system and POS Register system
  • Ability to communicate with associates and guests
  • Ability to read, count, and write to accurately complete all documentation
  • Ability to freely access all areas of the store including selling floor, stock area and register area
  • Ability to operate and use all equipment necessary to run a store
  • Ability to work varied hours/days as business dictates
  • Ability to analyze and solve problems or research inventory losses.
  • Ability to prepare routine administrative paperwork.
  • Ability to intake, organize, and package material.
  • Clerical, word processing, and/or office skills.
  • Basic knowledge of spreadsheet software
  • A high level of internal and external customer service.

The role reports to the Director of Retail Operations and works with the Assistant Store Manager and Luminaries (budtenders) in carrying out all retail operations in the store, including, but not limited to, inventory control, ordering, register operations, customer service, store appearance and displays, and employee interactions, and by performing other functions as assigned. The Store Manager must understand business drivers, how to maximize profitability, and ensure visual and operational standards are met consistently in the store.</p><p>The Responsibilities</p><p>• Participate in developing and implementing operational rules, regulations, policies, and procedures</p><p>• Drives business results by maximizing daily sales plans, managing expenses and improving metrics through sales floor leadership</p><p>• Manage, supervise, and direct the activities of the provisioning center and team</p><p>• Provides consistent developmental feedback that empowers and motivates our team and fosters a team environment by using effective communication skills</p><p>• Address issues that arise from employees or customers (complaints, grievances etc.)</p><p>• Work with Executive Team to create budgets and forecast sales</p><p>• Meet sales goals by training, motivating, mentoring and providing feedback to sales staff</p><p>• Oversee and manage product inventory</p><p>• Ensure the provisioning center remains compliant with security, inventory, and local and state regulations</p><p>• Report on buying trends, customer needs, profits etc.</p><p>• Create and reinforce a proactive selling culture that focuses on building a confident and competent team, in order to build a loyal customer following through clear and positive communication</p><p>• Propose innovative ideas to increase market share</p><p>• Manage financial records and cash handling procedures</p><p>• Ensure the safety and satisfaction of both the patients and employees</p><p>• Provide education for staff about medical cannabis strains, edibles, concentrates, and consumption mechanisms</p><p>• Oversee employee scheduling</p><p>• Maintain in-depth knowledge of products and strains in the store, as well as industry-wide product knowledge</p><p>• Manage and inspire staff to deliver the highest level of customer service</p><p>• Conduct personnel performance appraisals to assess training needs and build career paths</p><p>• Maintain outstanding store condition and visual merchandising standards</p><p>• Utilize, lead and deliver visual brand standards to present unique product mix offering</p><p>• Serve as a liaison to the local community</p><p>The Qualifications</p><p>• 7+ years of experience in a retail environment</p><p>• 5+ years management experience, preferably in retail</p><p>• 2+ years of cannabis related retail experience preferred</p><p>• College degree preferred; High School diploma required</p><p>• Minimum of 21 years of age</p><p>• Must pass any and all required background checks</p><p>• Proven successful experience as a retail leader</p><p>• Excellent interpersonal communication skills</p><p>• Accountability for self and others</p><p>• Balanced and intuitive decision making</p><p>• Practical and proactive thinking</p><p>• Maintain organized workplace</p><p>We aren’t like other Cannabis brands.
