Job purpose

The Director of Marketing oversees the company's promotion and advertising efforts to drive sales and build brand awareness. The role is responsible for developing effective marketing plans, leading execution, providing input on expense budgets, managing marketing expenditure to budgets, measuring the return on investment, and providing input to upper management on marketing-related issues.


Duties and responsibilities


The position's responsibilities fall into four primary areas:


  • Planning
    • Develop marketing plans to help the Company achieve its strategic and financial objectives.
  • Execution
    • Lead the marketing team to fulfill plans and strategies successfully and cost-effectively.
  • Thought Leadership
    • Participate as a member of the Company's Leadership Team by providing expert marketing input.
  • Administration
    • Manage the day-to-day activities of the Marketing Department including setting budgets and tracking expenditures to budgets, hiring, and managing Department staff, overseeing vendor relationships and managing the Department's relationship with other Company departments.

Specific duties and responsibilities include:

  • Create and maintain a successful brand and image that attracts customers to the product or service
  • Develop marketing strategies for new products or services
  • Monitor marketing trends to determine the effectiveness of different approaches and strategies
  • Analyze sales performance and assess the financial return of marketing campaigns.
  • In coordination with accounting and sales operations, monitor profit margins at the SKU level and provide input on managing our product portfolio for optimum profitability.
  • Research competitors to stay current with similar products or services.
  • Ensure all marketing is compliant with federal, state and local laws and regulations.
  • Work with licensee and territory marketing staff to help make their marketing as effective as possible, including:
  • Provide input on best practices to market our products
  • Coordinate monthly marketing expenditures made in each market.
  • Participate in Leadership Team meetings and otherwise communicate with Company leadership to provide marketing input on our strategies and plans.
  • Manage marketing staff and contractors including hiring, providing performance feedback, setting goals, overseeing work product and advising them on continuing skill development.
  • Oversee development of all marketing materials including collateral, PR, advertising, social media, swag, etc.
  • Manage the Company's participation in industry events including recommending which events to participate in, leading planning, overseeing execution, managing event budgets, communicating objectives and plans to staff who are participating, and evaluating the effectiveness after each event.
  • Oversee the development, management and updating of all department SOPs.

Qualifications


  • Bachelor's Degree in marketing or equivalent.
  • 5+ years' experience developing and executing marketing strategies and campaigns including collateral creation, internet initiatives, advertising, etc.
  • Cannabis industry marketing experience required.
  • Innovation and creativity to create new brand strategies that attract and retain customers and succeed over the competition
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and decisiveness.
  • Collaborative skills to accept and incorporate ideas into strategies
  • Expert time-management, prioritization and multi-tasking skills; Ability to quickly adapt to an often-changing and rapid-paced work environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; Ability to deliver effective presentations.
  • Proficiency using Google Analytics, Microsoft Office Suite, and Salesforce.
  • Proficiency with Adobe Suite, including Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Acrobat, preferred.
  • Ability to travel up to 20%.
  • Must have and maintain a valid driver's license.

Physical Demands


  • Must be able to lift to 25 lbs.
  • Must be able to sit, stand, stoop, crouch, reach, and/or lift for long periods of time.
  • Must be able to work in an office environment with moderate to loud noise level.

Collaborate with the Inventory Team to identify areas of opportunity for retraining on the Blue Bin and manifest process and work with Dispensary GM to provide training to dispensary staff.</p><p>• Develop and implement improvements to existing operational procedures to maximize efficiency. This may include specially reconfiguring the operational layout of the vault and daily room spaces to accommodate product needs.</p><p>• Participate in staff meetings to continue to train and develop dispensary staff on CCC regulations, SNI policy, and processes pertaining to inventory controls.</p><p>• Update and maintain retail inventory SOP's as policies and regulation changes.</p><p>• Work closely with the Dispensary GM to develop processes, policies, and retail inventory SOPs for adult use inventory control to maintain an accurate inventory and comply with all adult use regulations put forth by the CCC</p><p>• Follow all Sira Naturals Inc policies and procedures as instructed and full compliance with MA 105 CMR 725.</p><p><b>Development:</b></p><p>• Manage the Inventory Team with enthusiasm and urgency to train and develop your team's growth and foster a community of support.</p><p>• Hold your team to a high standard and ensure communication is fluid and consistent with both praise feedback and constructive feedback. Ensure documentation of constructive feedback for accountability across your team.</p><p>• Support the Inventory team and Dispensary managers to ensure the dispensary has the proper inventory controls in place. This may include partnering with other locations outside your home dispensary.</p><p>• Oversee the Inventory Specialists and Inventory Leads who perform mandatory weekly audits.</p><p>• Oversee the Inventory specialists, Inventory Leads and Intake Leads to accurately intake SN and 3rd party deliveries.</p><p>• Maintain strong communication amongst the inventory team and sales floor team through weekly email communications, touch bases, and chat ins.</p><p>• Facilitate 90 day and 6 month check ins as well as annual performance reviews to all inventory team members.</p><p><b>Product Procurement:</b></p><p>• Work with the Wholesale Procurement Manager to source and vet cannabis products from other producers.</p><p>• Manage all 3rd party product ordering for retail by working closely with the Wholesale Procurement Manager.</p><p>• Review all new vendor packaging, testing, and manifests to ensure compliance of deliveries. Communicate any issues or challenges to the vendor prior to store delivery.</p><p>• Maintain procurement documentation: ensuring COAs are accurate available for dispensary staff for all 3rd party products, reviewing invoices and make sure they are sent to Accounts Payable in a timely fashion, and update procurement trackers in real time.</p><p>• Manage the medicated and non-medicated inventory levels by forecasting weekly the product on hand.</p><p>• Manage and oversee the inventory team in daily audits of Dutchie and Leaf Logix to ensure product descriptions are up to date and maintain a five-star score on Dutchie daily.</p><p><b>QUALIFICATIONS</b></p><p>• Must possess basic math and computer skills, including Microsoft Office</p><p>• Ability to coordinate and problem solve in a professional manner.</p><p>• Must be 21 years of age or older as required by the Massachusetts Cannabis Commission.</p><p>• Able to pass all background checks as mandated by Massachusetts Cannabis Commission.</p><p>• Maintain regular and punctual attendance.</p><p>• Must be able to communicate effectively with patients/caregivers and team members.</p><p><b>PREFERRED EXPERIENCE</b></p><p>• Minimum of 2 years of delivering strong results in an Inventory/Logistics position in a</p><p>• fulfillment/distribution, pharmacy or retail environment.</p><p>• Established ability to deliver sincere and consistent leadership to a diverse team.</p><p>• Experience with budgets, cash handling and POS/inventory control systems.</p><p>• Ability to adapt to changing priorities in a high-volume environment.</p><p>• Experience working in a highly regulated industry.</p><p><b>WORKING CONDITIONS</b></p><p>• Able to accommodate scheduling that may include varied shifts, weekend and some holidays.</p><p>• Able to escort and assist patients with disabilities in navigating the dispensary, consultation couches,</p><p>• registers, entrances and exits.</p><p><b>PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS</b></p><p>• The person in this position frequently communicates with staff.
