Job Title: Director, Product | Brand Development

Type: Full- Time, Salaried and Exempt

NOTE: This position is based in Denver, CO. Candidates must be local or willing to relocate to Denver, CO by December, 2021. This is not a remote role. The Director of Product | Brand Development role presents a major growth opportunity for the right candidate in a rapidly expanding company and growing cannabis industry. This is a new role for Schwazze and provides an opportunity to build company products and brands from the ground up. The head of product | brand development plays a critical, integral and hands-on role in shaping and driving business strategy surrounding new product development for Schwazze as well as our in-house brand, Purplebee's.

The scope of oversight includes: new product and brand development strategy across both Flower and CPG; cross-functional team management related to product formulation and the entire product development lifecycle; development of new products appealing to cannabis consumers and the total addressable market that will drive both wholesale and retail sales; brand positioning and brand development including storyline creation and brand identity.

Essential Functions:

• Oversee all Schwazze product development strategy and execution roadmap for both Flower and CPG categories.

• Lead Schwazze product development team effort to: articulate both brand and product positioning; brand and product differentiation; and assessment of market readiness, including product research and trial efforts.

• Develop products and brands targeted to specific consumers, uses and need states that help tell a curated story and serve a specific purpose.

• Collaborate with cross-functional team including: Manufacturing, Cultivation, Innovation, Retail, Marketing, Wholesale, Legal and Compliance, in the design and development of product development for all Schwazze business units.

• Contribute analytical rigor by developing sales forecasts; managing development costs, COGS and margins; calculating associated pricing scenarios; and working with procurement to manage costs and delivery terms with suppliers.

• Understand cannabis regulatory and compliance framework as it relates to product formulations and development; packaging and labeling; communications and advertising.

• Work with Marketing, Wholesale and Retail teams to develop comprehensive new product launch and communications strategy to communicate to wholesale, retail and target consumers.

• Optimize all product packaging efforts in terms of waste reduction, sustainability and recycling efforts.

• Create and execute data-driven process utilizing consumer feedback loop, insights and testing to inform sound brand and product strategy and plan. Evaluate data and feedback from customer insights, CRM, and product teams to further iterate and evolve product offerings and brand development.

• Identify new technology and packaging sources; determine applicability to business and marketing strategies, develop, implement, and measure effectiveness and refine.

• Evaluate competitive benchmarks and continue to drive improvements to company's product and brand offerings.

Education and Experience Required:

• Must have experience in one or more of the following categories: FMCG, CPG, food & beverage, personal care, and/or cannabis experience
