Tax Manager - Cannabis and Emerging Industries Group

On-site or hybrid location preferred; remote is strongly considered.


Frost, PLLC is a full-service accounting firm currently providing tax, assurance, small business, advisory, animal welfare, business valuation, and litigation services in 47 states. Frost services a range of clients, from individuals to billion-dollar organizations. We have offices in Little Rock, AR; Fayetteville, AR; Scottsdale, AZ; Yuma, AZ; and Raleigh, NC. Our satellite offices are in Denver, CO; Naples, FL; and LaBelle, FL.

 

Frost has an immediate opening for a Tax Manager or Senior Associate within our Cannabis and Emerging Industries Group. This is a full-time position and will be benefits eligible.

 

About the position:

  • Opportunity to work in fast-growing and dynamic industries, with a current focus on the cannabis (marijuana, both medical and adult-use, hemp and hemp derivatives) and cannabis-technology industries
  • Opportunity to participate in complex investment, corporate structuring, and transactional business activities and address tax decisions and reporting impacts.
  • Opportunity to learn and consider strategic decisions that are impacted by a set of diverse and ever-changing regulations (both on federal and various state levels) and tax court rulings
  • Opportunity to work with cannabis dispensaries, cultivators, processors, and vertical operators consisting of individual and multi-state operators (MSOs)
  • Potential to advance with the rapidly-growing industry practice team
  • Potential for occasional travel if desired, but not necessary
  • Reports directly to Cannabis and Emerging Industries group partner

 

Our ideal candidate:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field required
  • CPA or CPA candidate required
  • 2-5 years in tax senior or manager position required
  • Self-starter and ability to manage multiple projects, staff, and clients
  • Detail-oriented, technical tax experience preferred, with interest in continued learning and skills advancement
  • Ability to utilize knowledge and skills to participate in corporate strategic and tax planning
  • Tax reporting experience with Partnerships, C-Corps., and S-Corps. and joint ventures
  • Experience with CCH Suite of Applications
  • Experience with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.)

This role will be responsible for overseeing all IT functions of Nabis, including implementing firewalls / network VPNs, managing mobile devices, streamlining IT-related procurement, and tracking subscription spend.Responsibilities Establishing network security systems and protocols, and aligning IT systems / infrastructure with current / future business requirements and goals Establishing policies and procedures for cyber risk management and mitigation Developing network recovery and backup processes Collaborating with key employees across all departments to determine their IT hardware / software and security needs Supervising daily operations of the Nabis network, and troubleshooting / adjusting IT systems to operate effectively hardware, software, and network support for warehouse &amp; remote employees Streamlining IT procurement processes, and assessing and purchasing new / replacement hardware and software Managing IT budgets / forecasts and tracking subscription spend in order to provide cost-effective IT systems and services Ensuring that IT activities are within the limits of applicable laws and regulations, and updating processes to align with industry best practices and standards Hiring, mentoring and developing a team of IT technicians Qualifications and Skills 5+ years of experience in information technology Graduated from a 4-year college or BA / BS degree from university in relevant field or equivalent experience Extensive experience with email systems, networking and WiFi, VPN technologies, mobile devices, etc. Certifications: A+, Network+, Security+ Additional Certifications (a plus): CISSP, CASP+, PenTest+, Data+, Project+ Experience in people management and prioritizing day-to-day activities Track record of success in developing relationships with stakeholders, working collaboratively and leveraging influence to drive multi-departmental projects Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high growth, rapidly changing environment that requires tenacity to exploit opportunities and a steady demeanor to handle challenges Ability to work well independently as well as with other members of the team, both in-person and remotely Ability to work on-site in a warehouse environment to assist in supporting physical hardware / infrastructure when needed Warehouse Fulfillment Center / Distribution Center IT support experience a plus Prior warehouse operations / warehouse management system (WMS) experience a plus Organized operator who executes on both internal and external responsibilities WHY YOU'LL LOVE WORKING AT NABIS1.
