Regional Human Resources Director

The Regional Human Resources Director of Distribution is responsible for leading all aspects of Human Resources for multiple sites in the Western US which includes compliance, talent development, succession planning, change management, performance management, labor relations, policy administration and positive employee engagement strategies. This includes spearheading all HR initiatives necessary to support the organization’s strategic objectives and transformative planning of the DC’s organizational culture. Provide business partnership to managers on critical issues affecting the business, culture, and work environment.
Essential Functions- Job Duties: The following duties are considered essential to the job. Qualified individuals must have the ability – with or without reasonable accommodation – to perform the following duties but not limited to:

  • Develop programs across all HR functional areas for the distribution centers including leadership development, employee relations, and performance management to drive business results.
  • Monitor and continually develop employee onboarding and training programs to engage and retain talent.
  • Manage retention efforts including risk analysis. Identify talent potential and establish programs to retain and promote appropriately.
  • Work closely with leadership and Talent Acquisition team to forecast people needs and establish staffing priorities.
  • Lead performance review activities (semi-annual and annual).
  • Establish and maintain wage and salary structure, pay policies. Participate in managing variable pay plans within DC’s including bonuses and raises.
  • Manage, coach, and develop DC teammates.
  • Lead, plan, and manage plant organization analysis, process improvement, and change management for maximum effectiveness and employee engagement.
  • Analyze and execute proper solutions for complex employee relations issues. Manage investigations and partner with an employment attorney, when necessary, to provide guidance to DC teammates.
  • Lead plant compliance with labor law and reporting requirements including EEO, ADA, FLSA, ERISA, DOL, Worker’s Compensation, DFEH and OSHA.
  • Provide guidance to executive leadership in interpretation of company policies, state and federal labor laws and company procedures/programs
  • Review annual budget for salaries, short-term incentives, fringe benefits, insurance costs for all departments on annual basis and control and forecast.
  • Recommend, evaluate, and participate in strategic teammates’ development plans, including training and performance management. Identify areas and opportunities for succession planning at all levels.
  • Develop a high impact “employment brand” to promote the organization as an employer of choice across the region.
  • Manage data in HRIS systems to effectively streamline HR operations, enhance employee experience and provide accurate reporting to stakeholders.
  • Maintains knowledge of industry trends and employment legislation.
  • Participates on committees and special projects and other ad hoc projects as needed

Supervisory Responsibilities: As a Business Partner to DC Management, carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities may include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Travel Requirements: The incumbent will be required to travel up to 50-70% of the time. (West Coast)

Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Database software; HRIS; Payroll systems; various HR management applications and advanced skills with MS Office suites.
