Duties

Summary

The Specialty Crops Program (SCP) is part of the Agricultural Marketing Service (AMS), U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), and is the organization responsible for helping the produce industry market their perishable products in an orderly an efficient manner. In this position, you will serve as an Agricultural Marketing Specialist within the hemp program, responsible for implementing and administering all aspects of the AMS hemp program regulations.


Responsibilities

  • The duties described are for the full-performance level. At developmental grade levels, assignments will be of more limited scope, performed with less independence and limited complexity.
  • The duties may include, but are not limited to:
  • Develops, reviews, and implements new and/or revised policies specific to the hemp program.
  • Identifies and conceptualizes strategies to improve and/or advance the organization's policy development practices.
  • Monitors and stays abreast of the implementation of approved hemp production policies.
  • Manages multiple, complex policy projects specific to hemp production.
  • Coordinates and supports the application process for hemp production licensing.
  • Enforces licensing, record keeping, sampling, testing, and production requirements compliance for hemp.
  • Conducts complex analysis of existing and proposed legislation impacting hemp production.

    • Studying, researching and reporting on specifications, marketing and quality improvements to hemp or other agricultural commodities;
    • Assisting on investigations and collecting data related to the hemp(or other agricultural commodities)industry;
    • Analyzing, interpreting, and reporting on marking practices for hemp(or other agricultural commodities) products;
    • Assisting on audits of program operations to achieve uniformity in the application of inspection and/or certification procedure for hemp or other agricultural commodities;
    • Assisting on studies and analyses of hemp products and activities to assess industry problems and concerns pertaining to the marketing of hemp or other agricultural commodities;
    • Assisting on workshops and making presentation/lectures regarding hemp or other agricultural commodities;
    • Evaluating hemp(or other agricultural commodities) marketing conditions and industry practices and trends;
    OR

    Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree; or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree; or LL.M., if related such as: Marketing, Agriculture, Horticulture, Agricultural Economics, Agricultural Business or related fields

    COMBINATION OF EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE AT THE GS-11 GRADE LEVEL: Applicants may have combinations of successfully completed education and specialized experience to meet total qualification requirements. The total percentages must equal at least 100 percent to qualify for that grade level.

    FOR THE GS-12 LEVEL: Applicants must have one year of specialized experience (equivalent to the GS-11 level) that may have been obtained in the private or public (local, county, state, Federal) sectors which demonstrates:

    There is not an education substitution for the GS-12 and GS-13 grade levels.

    Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Advocates will also be responsible for fulfilling orders properly, including the correct label, patient label and proper packaging procedures are being followed * The Patient Advocate will either consult patients and or dispense the companys regulated medical cannabis products to qualified patients in accordance with company policy and in accordance with Florida medical cannabis regulations. * Advocates will be responsible for maintaining a professional interaction with both staff members and patients while also participating in team building exercises. * Patient Advocates will assist management staff in ensuring all procedures are being followed to reflect regulatory and compliance standards. * Ensure effective communication and teamwork across functional areas and team members to achieve company goals * Advocates will perform weekly inventory counts and report findings to Management * Report any high-risk complaints to Head of Retail and Compliance Director * Thoroughly document all customer complaints and returns * Ensure 100% traceability of products are maintained from reception to final sale Requirements * Excellent Oral and written communication skills * Proficient in Excel, Microsoft Office and Power point * Clinical or Research experience preferred * 3 years of Retail/Customer Service Experience Required * Must be able to pass a Level 2 Background check (FBI) * Must be 21 Years of Age Benefits Eligible for medical, dental and vision benefits on the first of the month following 60 days of employment.
