Position Summary:

Responsible for managing all the work in a commercial production facility of up to 1,000 plants including but not limited to: cloning, transplanting, feeding plants, defoliation, low stress training, topping, foliar and preventative sprays, harvesting, trimming, drying and curing, packaging, waste disposal, and inventory management. Responsible for all METRC data entry and MED OPC/RMC compliance. Responsible for managing and leading the Cultivation team, writing daily schedules, conducting cultivation meetings, performance evaluations, and delegating tasks. Responsible for creating and updating the full harvest schedule. Company operates under the highest standards of professionalism. The holiday seasons (mid Nov- Jan 1st) as well as April 20th, July 4th and other national holidays are expected to be busy and staffing needs will require more staffing. This could lead to limited time off during these time frames.

Job Duties to include some or all of the tasks listed below:

  • Perform all the tasks in the cultivation including: cloning, transplanting, feeding plants, defoliation, low stress training, topping, foliar and preventative sprays, harvesting, trimming, drying and curing, packaging, waste disposal and inventory management.
  • Manage cultivation warehouse working crew of 5+ employees. Communicate on a daily, weekly, monthly, and annual basis with Smokey’s/Trinidad Gardens staff (team and upper management) in an oral coaching/counseling capacity and/or in written documented format. Will produce a weekly update to upper management on cultivation activities. Ensure the team is operating at maximum efficiency and adhering to all MED and CDA rules and regulations, as well as Smokey's/Trinidad Gardens company policies.
  • Maintain METRC training(s) every quarter for all METRC data entry.
  • Maintain cultivation warehouse standard operating procedures and feeding regimens. Manage cannabis plants, making sure each individual plant gets the attention it needs one at a time.
  • Manage plant scheduling and organization to precisely project all garden needs on a daily, weekly, monthly, and annual basis to keep the garden full, healthy, and expenses low.
  • Cataloging and analyzing each individual strain from seed to sale.
  • Manage cloning with at least a 90% success rate. Expectations of running a profitable department with harvest production at levels to sustain payroll and expenses and generate a net profit of at least 5%.
  • Develop and execute preventative maintenance programs and elimination of all types of mold, powdery mildew, spider mites, aphids, fungus gnats, etc.
  • Knowledge of soil cultivation methods including macronutrients, micronutrients, beneficial bacteria and fungi, and nutrient implementation.
  • Working knowledge in container systems with soil and hydro as well as understanding temperature and humidity manipulation.
  • Knowledge of plant diseases, insects and fungi, as well as plant treatment options.
  • Researched in new techniques and insight to expand knowledge in nutrients of individual strains, high yield recipes, controlled stress environments, different lighting systems and set ups, etc.
  • Knowledge of strains: Sativa, Indica, and Hybrids, and mastery of medicinal implementation and knowledge of the effects of strains and types of medicinal administration.
  • Assist upper management and/or government auditors with inventory, sales, and compliance audits. Must have extensive knowledge of MED and CDA rules and regulations including allowed plant counts per patient, allowed product in facility, etc. Will have weekly communication with the General Operations Manager, and monthly communication with the COO and CEO of any facility issues, concerns, and procedural changes.
  • Comply with all HR policies including confidentiality and non-disclosure. Effectively manage all employees on your team including weekly meetings and continuous job specific education and training.
  • Facility maintenance and troubleshooting as necessary. Maintain an immaculately clean facility with strict adherence to established cleaning protocols.
  • Responsible for cost and income analysis of operation and recommendations of efficiencies to upper management, researching best practices for production efficiencies, and calculations for profitability per strain.

Skills/Certifications:

  • Valid Marijuana Enforcement Division issued Employee License; must be maintained
  • Experienced in a commercial cultivation operation for more than 4+ years.

  • Management of a commercial cultivation operation for more than 2+ years.
  • Knowledge of large scale commercial plant cultivation including organics, probiotics, nutrient requirements, mediums, light requirements, temperature control, air flow, etc.
  • Knowledge of plant diseases, insects, and fungi, as well as plant treatment options. Advanced knowledge of the cannabis plant and genetics.

Physical Requirements:
