Job Description

Terrapin is looking for a Head Grower to join our growing company. As a Boulder, Colo.-based national cannabis company, Terrapin is a pioneer in the emerging industry. Terrapin is a cultivator, processor and provider of high-quality medical and recreational cannabis products. Over 10 years of operations, Terrapin has grown into a multi-state company with nearly 400 employees. As we have expanded nationally, our need for Head Grower has grown significantly.


This position will report to the Director of Operations and Regional Manager. The Head Grower will face many challenges and must be a critical thinker and a creative problem solver whose attention to detail and focus on safe and compliant operations will maximize the overall efficiency and productivity of the cultivation facility. An extensive knowledge of the local laws that govern the actions and protocols of safe daily operations is a requirement of the utmost importance. In addition, the ability to manage and cultivate a team atmosphere is a must when it comes to maintaining efficient and productive operations at all times. The Head Grower will also assist in the vetting, hiring and training of new Garden employees with the goal of maintaining a highly productive staff and an intensive attention to compliance and safety, only hiring employees of good moral character. As a Head Grower, you will have a great responsibility to manage all grow, harvest, nutrient and pest management schedules and implement mitigating factors to maintain clean, safe, compliant and efficient operations in the garden at all times.


Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Schedule, manage, and oversee all garden activity

  • Assist compliance Dept. with implementation of processes to maintain good standing with governing authorities

  • Maintain product quality and production requirements

  • Maintain accurate inventory tracking system records

  • Hire, Train and Schedule staff including Assistant Growers and Harvest Managers in order to cultivate and maintain the most productive, efficient, and compliant team possible

  • Schedule and monitor the entire life cycle of all plants including the processes surrounding Cloning, Vegetation, Transplants, Harvests and waste mitigation

  • Implement existing pest management and pathogen mitigation programs, only utilizing practices, policies and products which are compliant according to local regulations

  • Collaboration and support of the Harvest Manager, scheduling and overseeing harvest, cure and the safe transportation product

  • Maintenance of garden’s plant inventory with attention to safe and secure processing, tracking and storage of marijuana and marijuana products at all times, notifying the necessary parties including state and local law enforcement in the event of any suspected diversion or discrepancy found in on hand inventory amounts

  • Manage and Maintain Testing Programs according to local jurisdictions and State Mandated testing requirements

  • Complete harvest projections in a timely manner

  • Research and Development of the garden

  • Maintain consistent communication with the Director of Cultivation, Operations and Regional Manager.

  • Implementation of company disciplinary procedures

  • Ordering of garden supplies

  • Repairs and Maintenance of HVAC, electrical service and distribution and other tenant improvements

  • Have basic working knowledge of computers, understanding the Point of Sale, scanning and emailing.

Terrapin has high expectations for this position. It requires precise organizational skills, accuracy and foresight.

  • Hourly Requirements: 35 – 45 Hours Per Week (average). With some weekends required.


Minimum Qualification:

  • 3 years of production, greenhouse or agricultural experience

  • Current State Mandated Badge or Background Check.

  • A strong competency working with digital spreadsheets. (Excel, Google sheets)

  • Ability to stay on task, self motivated, Able to manage multiple tasks in a fast moving, highly regulated environment with deadlines
