About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Head Grower to join our client who is based in Quebec, the Head Grower will be responsible for the development, implementation, monitoring and improving of the culture program ensuring successful crops in production through to harvest in a safe environment.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate production schedule including, communicating changes due to plant needs.

• Ensure Production Schedules are suitable to Plant needs and are attainable from an Agronomic view.

• Responsible for review and revisions of all SOP’s related to production.

• Ensure all direct reports are trained and in compliance with all relevant SOP’s, Best practices, and Fertigation.

• Monitor and document plant development and communicate the crop status and roadblocks weekly with the senior management team of the facility.

• Monitor, oversee and control the environment and fertigation using Damatex.

• Maintain a safe, clean, and compliant workplace.

• Keep the Best Practice Document accurate.

• Ensure compliance under GPP regulations.

• Provide /propose operational improvements related to Plant Health.

• Work in collaboration with the Processing, Maintenance, Quality, Marketing, Supply and Demand, Finance Department to meet the demand at cost.

Requirements

• Must have Degree, Diploma or Higher in Horticulture/Agronomy

• 10 years work experience in Large scale crop production

• Experience in Floriculture or management of multiple crop rotations

• Bilingual in English and French is an asset but not necessary

• Experience with Microsoft Office

• Must be able to pass security background check

use or learn any computer software programs required for cultivation (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and any programs needed to run and monitor the climate control and fertigation systems).</p><p>• Assist employees and managers in the trim, packaging, processing, or dispensary operations in any way that will improve overall performance of the business. (Not responsible for labor related tasks in any department outside of cultivation).</p><p>• Remain up to date on continuing education, and new or emerging technologies that may help to better increase to output or efficiency of the cultivation facility.</p><p>• Maintain detailed expense reports for all materials purchased in each month of operation.</p><p>• Ordering/purchasing of any and all products needed for future operations.</p><p>• Knowledge of or ability to learn and use Metrc (inventory management program).</p><p><b>Job Requirements:</b></p><p>• Associates degree or higher in horticulture, plant and soil sciences, or relevant agricultural experience or scientific experience related to cultivation of medicinal cannabis.</p><p>• 7+ years of experience with management of staff and facilities operations in agricultural or similar professional field.</p><p>• 5+ years of experience working in a regulated cannabis cultivation facility (management preferred, but not required if management experience was gained in another profession.)</p><p>• Full knowledge of all applicable laws, regulations, and requirements to keep the facility at 100% compliance at all times, this includes being up to date on any changes to current applicable laws/regulations.</p><p>• Detailed knowledge of indoor hydroponic cultivation practices, life cycle of cannabis, the common pests of cannabis and compliant pest treatment/prevention options in accordance with local and state laws and regulations and any EPA regulations.</p><p>• Detailed knowledge of cannabis strains used in production, their growth habits, potential yields and potencies.</p><p>• Current holder or ability to obtain a Private Pesticide Applicator license.</p><p>• Exceptional organizational and communication skills.</p><p>• Knowledge of mechanics and basic function of irrigation, and all climate control systems used throughout the facility (lighting, HVAC, CO2, etc.)</p><p>• Acute attention to detail and decisive reasoning skills.</p><p>• Ability to manage and oversee all staff while performing other tasks.</p><p>• Responsible for data analysis or all cultivation data and purchasing and tracking costs of required materials for use in cultivation.</p><p>• At Ascend, we care about the safety of our patients, customers, Ascenders and vendors. This includes: cloning, transplanting, pruning, nutrient management, irrigation, pest control, environmental control, harvesting, drying[RT3] /curing, equipment maintenance, waste disposal and inventory management.
