Company: Established industrial equipment re-seller and service provider, focused on the emergency backup power generation space. Company supports diverse industries – aerospace, agriculture, cannabis, mining, and manufacturing, both domestically and internationally. Opportunity: Under general direction of the Chief Financial Officer, the Controller oversees all operations in connection with financial matters including accounts receivable and payable, payroll, and auditing; trains and supervises department staff; develops and initiates systems, policies and procedures for transacting financial matters and ensures that the financial system is accurate, efficient and in accordance with professional accounting practices.

  • Oversee all operational accounting (including GL activity, month end close, payroll, inventory control, capex, cost accounting)
  • Issue monthly financial statements, perform analytical review to ensure accurate accounting records are maintained
  • Manages and provides clear, concise, accurate and timely financial and operational data on assigned operations regarding sales, costs, labor costing, inventory management, finished goods value
  • Monthly balance sheet reconciliations
  • Good Understanding of activities manufacturing environment such as closing work orders, WIP, setting standard cost rates (labor and overhead).
  • Assures the accounting team maintains and continues to improve and develop key processes and controls
  • Responsible for establishing controls over transactions and accounting processes
  • Business partner to other functions and leadership team.
  • Works closely with all departments to pro-actively structure transactions to ensure compliance with all accounting policies and procedures

What we're looking for:

We are looking for someone with at least seven years of relevant experience.

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance required with Masters in Accounting and/ or CPA or CMA preferred.
  • Strong general accountant with great knowledge of GAAP
  • Thorough experience with managing an efficient month end close process
  • Advanced Excel skills to include: PivotTables, Sumif, VLOOKUP, match/index, etc.
  • Working knowledge of Access reporting
  • Comfortable with applying prior experience and accounting knowledge to a new environment with little direction. Cannot be afraid of digging in figuring it out, but at the same time this person will not feel unsupported.
  • ERP systems experience with multiple systems would be ideal. NetSuite experience is a plus, and ERP implementation experience is a huge plus
  • Experience working with audits and being the contact for the annual audit.
  • Experience managing other accounting staff
  • A humble and thoughtful approach when coaching and mentoring others
  • Multisite experience a plus
  • Travel - Some travel between locations/sites maybe needed from time to time.

This position will work closely with the Cash &amp; Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, Payroll shared services, the Corporate Accounting group, as well as other regional finance, accounting, and business leadership.</p><p><b>Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:</b></p><p>• Drives the Month-end Close process.</p><p>• Delegates, supervises, and participates in daily accounting department tasks.</p><p>• Prepares and/or reviews appropriate ledger entries and accruals.</p><p>• Ensures completeness and accuracy of all accounts, databases, and files, including the completion and review of monthly balance sheet reconciliations.</p><p>• Performs consolidation and supervises the elimination of intercompany transactions for multiple entities.</p><p>• Collaborates with the VP of Accounting, accounting team, and other internal departments to design, document, implement, and monitor processes that establish internal controls, ownership, and accountability of involved parties related to inventory management, fixed asset management, and cash &amp; sales processing.</p><p>• Maintains effective Internal Controls and ensure Standard Operating Procedures are current and being utilized across the organization as appropriate.</p><p>• Works closely with accounts payable department, the purchasing department, and inventory management stakeholders concerning receiving issues the implementation of systems affecting inventory processing.</p><p>• Perform ad hoc analysis and projects as requested.</p><p>• Responds timely to inquiries from external and internal customers.</p><p>• Work closely with the VP of Accounting, Parent Company Accounting Group, external auditors, and tax accountants during quarter and year end close to support reporting &amp; regulatory requirements and provide financial commentary and supporting schedules as requested.</p><p>• Provide support and training to the staff and other team leaders; provide guidance to accounting staff to optimize performance including assisting in monitoring workloads to ensure timely completion of assigned activities.</p><p>Qualifications and Education Requirements</p><p>• Bachelor’s degree with a concentration in accounting; CPA preferred</p><p>• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience. Public accounting experience, as well as corporate accounting experience preferred; Thorough knowledge of U.S. GAAP.</p><p>• Experience or exposure to all areas of accounting including but not limited to, accounts payable, accounts receivable, cash/revenue, fixed assets, accruals and reserves. Understanding of the principles of inventory manufacturing processes, retail sales processes, sales and use tax, and public company audit and Sarbanes Oxley compliance.</p><p>• 3+ years supervisory experience required, effectively managing and developing a team of professionals.</p><p>• Manufacturing and Retail experience preferred.</p><p>• Experience working in a highly computerized environment and processing financial transactions using an enterprise resource planning (ERP) system and/or accounting software.
