We are looking for an experienced Purchasing Manager (PM) to join our Operations team to be a key member of our rapidly-growing business. This role is responsible for company wide procurement of products and services essential for our company's operations, by working with our vendors and suppliers, and by using an understanding of Grassdoor's unique tracking, budgeting, and scheduling requirements. While working with department heads, and the executive team, this position negotiates purchase, reviews terms and conditions, establishes pricing guidelines, and assures fiscally responsible procurement, as well as effective planning, controlling, and delivery of purchases company wide, in order to minimize procurement expenses so that the company can invest in its growth and people. This role will report to the COO and work with all departments to champion growth campaigns, control costs, and maximum purchasing dollars to guide key decisions across the organization. This role has access to confidential and proprietary data and information.

What does the job entail?

  • Sourcing and purchasing materials and supplies necessary to support Grassdoor's business objectives.
  • Working with Marketing and Operations to ensure purchases are within specifications and takes the lead role in resolving related issues with suppliers
  • Providing accurate and timely negotiations and purchases based on defined criteria (i.e., cost, quality, productivity, service).
  • Developing RFPs, reviewing proposals, negotiating prices, selecting, and recommending suppliers, analyzing trends, following up on orders placed, verifying deliveries and maintaining all purchasing records.
  • Negotiating with external vendors to secure the most advantageous terms.
  • Finalizing details of orders and deliveries
  • Controlling spending and building a culture of long-term saving on procurement costs.
  • Tracking and reporting key functional metrics to reduce expenses and improve effectiveness
  • Managing supplier performance monitoring (i.e., cost, quality, productivity, service).
  • Collaborating with key persons to ensure the clarity of Grassdoor specifications and expectations
  • Developing policies and procedures for the operation of procurement activities.
  • Sharing Grassdoor's company values and vision and excited by the challenge of working in a dynamic start-up environment.
What Grassdoor is looking for:
  • Bachelors or advanced Degree in in Supply Chain Management, Finance, Accounting, Logistics, Management, or Business Administration, or related field (or equivalent knowledge gained through formal education, specialized training, or additional job experience)
  • 3-5 years' experience in direct and indirect sourcing within retail operation required
  • Management experience leading a team required.
  • Cannabis industry experience desired but not required.
  • Ability to operate is a fast-paced environment with multiple priorities.
  • Knowledge of sourcing and procurement techniques.
  • Aptitude in decision-making and working with numbers.
  • Experience in collecting, analyzing, and validating data.
  • Strong time management, attention to detail, organizational skills and follow through.
