About This Role: The Cultivation Director is responsible for overseeing all facets of the cultivation operations. Responsibilities (include but not limited to):

  • Ensure compliance with all Colorado State and Local regulations.
  • Implement and manage a pest management control program that adheres with State/Local and company regulations.
  • Hire, train and manage production staff in all aspects of cultivation.
  • Manage staff duties, procedures, processes, and work schedules.
  • Educate marketing staff on operations and horticultural products.
  • Establish and maintain annual production budget.
  • Identify the plant variation needs of facility and market.
  • Develop schedule of vegetation, flowering and harvesting process.
  • Maintain accurate data of cultivation process and reporting.
  • Identify and enforce best practices to control facility sanitation, humidity levels, and other variables.
  • Oversee record keeping, inventory and financial data.
  • Manage company safety policies and procedures.

The Experience You Bring and the Skills we Need:

  • 4-year degree in horticulture, management or related field.
  • 5 years of related cannabis management work experience.
  • 3 years of Integrated Pest Management (IPM) experience.
  • 3 years of Marijuana Enforcement Tracking Reporting Compliance (METRC) experience.
  • Thorough knowledge of production facilities, irrigation & HVAC systems, fertilizers, and other logistical variables.
  • Ability to plan, organize and prioritize specific objectives.
  • Ability to use a PC and interpret/produce production reports.
  • Ability to quickly analyze data and efficiently problem solve.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals and technical procedures.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedural manuals.

This is a fixed term 3-year appointment with renewal dependent on performance and availability of funds. For their extension responsibilities, the successful applicant is expected to provide service to the PPEM Plant Disease Clinic by developing a nematode diagnostic program and providing nematode identifications from regional samples including from the Northeastern and Mid-Atlantic regions using phenotypic and molecular tools.</p><p></p><p>The candidate may develop and provide molecular or other premium diagnostic services for other diseases of value to the PPEM Plant Disease Clinic. The candidate will develop an externally funded, research program on emerging nematode invasions providing new tools for diagnosis and identification, and sustainable management in the context of global climate change. Research will use a translational taxonomic approach for management that includes the classification and development of nomenclatural proposals for undescribed species and genotypes using phenotypic methods and using and developing molecular methods as a basis for designing management strategies that may include biological control, suppression with cover or trap crops, natural products, and other sustainable practices. Other taxonomic products including keys for the identification of emerging nematode pests are expected.</p><p></p><p>The successful applicant is expected to collaborate with other faculty in one or more key areas including Plant Disease Epidemiology, Biological Control, and International Agriculture and to maintain collaborations with USDA APHIS and the USDA Nematode Collection. The ability to engage professionally with a diverse population of faculty, staff, and students across the university is required. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with Penn State’s Institute for Sustainable Agricultural, Food, and Environmental Science (SAFES) and its emerging Integrated Agricultural Diagnostic Community of Practice and the College of Agricultural Sciences emerging Digital Agriculture Initiative.
