The Opportunity:
As the Regional Key Account Manager, you will have full accountability for delivering optimized retail solutions to our valued key account partners within the province of Ontario. We are looking for a proven sales leader who is inspired by the prospect of working for a global leader in the cannabis industry yet also demonstrates the agility to be successful in a market in its infancy. This includes optimized services cycles, establishing preferred supplier status and a polished ability to understand retailer objectives. Lastly, you will be held accountable to work alongside trade marketing in order to create unique and disruptive programs that breakthrough the noise of competition and resonate with consumers while satisfying retailer needs. In this role, you will also be asked to support, lead and coach the provincial sales representative. Working alongside your provincial sales rep, you will provide strategic direction and priorities, active feedback and development planning in addition to target monitoring and performance evaluations.

As a Regional Key Account Manager you will:

  • Develop and implement a sustainable sales process that allows for meaningful coverage for all key accounts within scope
  • Identify and map the core objectives of each of the key account banners and develop sales solutions that meet both retailer and Valens objectives
  • Track and measure key account performance by banner. Present sales results and trends to both internal and external stakeholders while identifying opportunities in execution
  • Analyze data with the objective of developing sales plans that address the market conditions and best position Valens to win
  • Use market insights, customer and consumer feedback and an understanding of the competitive landscape to anticipate product preference and support Valens efforts in creating an effective innovation pipeline
  • Work collaboratively with the field sales representatives to ensure first class store level execution of the commercial plan
  • Full commercial ownership of all regional Key Accounts performance. This includes volume, distribution and market share growth. The creation of customized sales solutions and the field level execution of all Key Account programs

As a Regional Key Account Manager you bring:

  • A minimum of 3 years of sales leadership within a packaged goods, beverage alcohol, pharmaceutical or related industry
  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in either Business Administration, Commerce, Engineering or other related fields
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office with a focus on Excel and PowerPoint
  • Proven ability to coach and teach towards specific skillsets
  • Experience in identifying root causes and building appropriate actions
  • The willingness to balance both office hours and meaningful time in market
