The Opportunity

We are looking for a very organized and detail-oriented problem solver with a positive attitude and excellent interpersonal skills to join our engineering team. This individual will be an integral part of our team and play a key role in ensuring that our production facilities are designed and built on time and on budget, safe to operate, and with best-in-class efficiency, performance, and product quality.

Responsibilities
  • Assist with specification, scale-up, and design of process equipment
  • Lead commissioning and installation of new or retrofit equipment
  • Assist with the pre-start safety review (PSR) process for new and existing equipment
  • Lead cross-functional validation teams to complete validation of new process equipment
  • Create production SOPs
  • Complete project documentation packages
  • Work collaboratively with the process engineering team on new and improvement projects. Plan, execute, and complete assigned projects
  • Participate and provide technical support to operating personnel on manufacturing, packaging, material handling, cleaning, and processing operations – including troubleshooting equipment and process problems encountered during production
  • Other duties as assigned
Experience
  • B.Sc. in Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
  • Eligible for registration with the Professional Engineers of Ontario
  • Must be highly motivated, proactive, and willing to take on new challenges
  • Ability to learn new processes quickly
  • Proven problem-solving skills
  • Strong communication skills, with an emphasis on technical writing skills
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
  • Detail-oriented and strong time management skills
  • Working knowledge of computer applications including: Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Acrobat, AutoCAD, Visio
  • Must be meticulous and able to work independently
  • Registration with Professional Engineers Ontario is an asset
  • Mechanically inclined is an asset
  • 1 – 2 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment is an asset
  • Familiarity with Ontario Occupational Health and Safety Act is an asset
  • Familiarity with HC cannabis regulations is an asset
  • Familiarity with validation (DQ, IQ, OQ, PQ) is an asset
  • Experience with GMP is an asset
  • Experience with tanks, pumps, valves, hydraulics, motors, VFDs, heat exchangers, refrigeration systems/chillers, boilers, high speed packing equipment, instrumentation, waste treatment systems, filtration, and water purification systems is an asset
  • Experience with cannabis, agriculture, botany, or similar is an asset

This position will perform a variety of software engineering tasks that require independent judgment, planning and implementation. Ideal candidates will be proactive, hands‐on, and independent problem‐solvers who can work on a fully remote team. Flexibility and professionalism are key.
