Opportunity
Reporting to the Chief Operating Engineer, the Third Class - Operating Engineer will be responsible for installing, maintaining, repairing and monitoring generators, the industrial refrigeration and air conditioning systems, operating and repairing boiler and steam systems and combined heating, ventilation and cooling systems at the Canopy Growth Corporation campus in Smiths Falls.

Responsibilities
  • Operate automated control systems
  • Monitor and inspect plant equipment
  • Measure temperature flow and pressure
  • Analyze and record instrument readings and equipment malfunction
  • Troubleshoot, perform corrective action or minor repairs as required
  • Perform routine equipment maintenance
  • Clean and lubricate machinery and components
  • Maintain daily log of operation, maintenance and safety activities
  • Write plant or building operation reports
  • Assist in the development of operation, maintenance and safety procedures
  • Work with other departments to maintain all related facility equipment
  • Willing to fill the position of Acting Chief Operating Engineer when called upon.
  • Able to work rotating shifts including nights, weekends and some holidays.
  • Most be able to work varied shifts.
  • Strong commitment to safety.
  • Other duties as assigned
Experience
  • Operating Engineer Certification, 3rd Class, in good standing
  • Minimum 3 years' experience in a manufacturing / Industrial setting preferred
  • Must be proficient in the use of the Refrigeration Code (CSA B52) and ensure proper handling of equipment and hand tools
  • Must have a full understanding of the TSSA Operating Engineers Regulations "Ontario Regulations 219/01"
  • Must be able to read and understand blueprints
  • Experience with computerized control systems, high- and low-pressure boilers, pumps, compressors, motors, switches, valves, gauges, alarms, meters, ammonia refrigeration, cooling towers, HVAC, electronic controls, generators, programmable logic controllers (PLC) and Freon Refrigeration Air Handling Units an asset.

Reporting to the Research and Development Manager, the Research Technician will be responsible for designing and conducting experiments, using experimental results and benchtop trials to design specifications, be the SME while working closely with product innovation and cross-functional teams to ensure compliance with stringent regulations and execution of R&amp;D data presentation and reporting. The ideal candidate must be highly motivated, detail-oriented, energetic, and able to work as part of a team and at a fast pace.</p><p>Essential Functions</p><p>• Ability to design experiment, conduct trials, and see it to completion or termination.</p><p>• Solid understanding of how to use statistical tools and other data analysis tools and be able to translate research and experimental data into readable format for formal presentations and reports.</p><p>• Able to create technical specifications on product and process and support the organization by applying technical expertise to troubleshoot and resolve operational Continuous Improvement (CI) initiatives and opportunities.</p><p>• Collaboration with external and internal partners with respect to research, development, innovations, and support cannabis research and communicate technical and complex information to peers, industry, and academic collaborators.</p><p>• Innovate and review current processing methodologies and collaborate with other departments and seek ways to optimize in-house processes.</p><p>• A solid understanding of the concept of cannabinoid formulations with other bases for cannabis products development.</p><p>• Subject Matter Expert (SME) in cannabinoid formulations with other ingredients for cannabis products development.</p><p>• Review and complete documentation related to Research and Development such as SOPs, WIs, and PCP.</p><p>• Ensure all SOPs, WIs are followed and high sense of adherence to GPP and GDP.</p><p>• Coordinate research and development activities in a timely manner and work closely with internal customers to ensure research and development is performed per cGMP standards.</p><p>• Ensure the effective execution of goals, targets, and objectives are established.</p><p>• Coordinate with Cultivation Operations, Primary and Secondary Operations on in-house and external projects are executed in a timely manner.</p><p>• Write weekly processing and production reports.</p><p><b>Other Duties</b></p><p>• We work in a fast-paced environment, rolling up our sleeves to build something bigger than ourselves.
