About the Role

We are looking for a Category Manager to join our team! As Category Manager, you will help the OCS bring to market a range of regulated cannabis products that delight our customers and thereby helping to support our mandate of eliminating the illegal market.

As a Category Manager, you will demonstrate strong business leadership to support the critical role of OCS as the exclusive wholesaler of legal recreational cannabis products in Ontario. This role is for an individual that is passionate about leveraging consumer, shopper, and market insights to understand key trends necessary in order to curate an assortment of products that are of interest to our customers. To achieve this, it will be expected that you help manage productive relationships with Health Canada authorized licensed producers, work collaboratively with various OCS lines of business, and engage our customers to understand their needs. This role is an exciting opportunity for an organized and driven retail expert who demonstrates strong analytical and emotional intelligence skills.

About your Day

  • Determine product assortment for a specific business line, including negotiating costs and setting retails in alignment with the corporate priorities and annual plans.
  • Utilize industry knowledge, identify market trends, and monitor retail pricing to leverage opportunities to delight consumers and better compete with the illegal market.
  • Collaborate closely with other OCS business areas, including Consumer & Market Insights, Supply Chain, Store Partnerships, E-commerce, Marketing, and Quality Assurance teams
  • Establish and maintain strong collaborative supplier relationships with licensed procedures of all sizes across all regions of Canada.
  • Develop and operate within a product assortment framework and open to buy budget to deliver on profit targets.
  • Work closely with licensed producers to continuously improve product quality and consistency
  • Lead and evaluate product call submissions, complete category line reviews, initiate and maintain contract negotiations/renewals
  • Onboard new licensed producers, ensuring compliance to OCS standards
  • Complete periodic business reviews with licensed producers to provide them full clarity on their current performance and how they can improve the business with the OCS
  • Collaborate with supply chain on initial forecasting and inventory management
  • Prepare and deliver periodic presentations on category strategy and performance to OCS leadership
  • Provide leadership to the team by demonstrating product knowledge and an understanding of the customer through insights and data analytics.

About You

  • Completion of post-secondary education in business administration / commerce, finance, marketing or related field.
  • 8+ years of direct ownership of retail purchasing, merchandising and procurement within complex category assortment.
• Excellent organization and ability to work independent as well as part of a collaborative team. • Strong analytic skills, including a deep understanding of retail financing, merchandising strategies, and ability to conduct business analysis and interpretation of complex category data.
  • Strong negotiating experience, particularly in a retail merchandising environment.
  • Understanding of working within growing retail and wholesale businesses.
  • Ability to translate and present complex content into clear and engaging presentations.
  • Ability to work in fast paced environment with an agile mindset to meet changing needs of consumers.
  • Experience working in a regulated retail industry would be an asset, but not mandatory.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Knowledge of PowerBI and Microsoft D365 would be an asset.
  • Understanding and knowledge of the cannabis industry would be a strong asset but not mandatory.

As Cresco grows, we will operate with the same level of professionalism and precision in each new market we move in to.<br /><br />JOB SUMMARY<br /><br />Cresco Labs is seeking a Compliance Software Portfolio Product Manager. At Cresco Labs, multiple Point of Sale (POS) and state compliance systems are utilized between our cultivation, processing, and retail operations. The uptime of these systems is crucial to Cresco's success, and we are looking for a strong product manager who can own this portfolio of products. T he Technology Product Manager will own the functional effectiveness and feature expansion of these systems and as they push new releases, develop custom integrations, expand to new states, and integrate with the Cresco technology stack.
