The Opportunity
The Senior Accountant, Biosteel will report to the Senior Manager, Accounting. This individual will be responsible for the month end close of Biosteel Sports Nutrition Inc. This includes maintaining the general ledger, preparing journal entries and account reconciliations, and preparing variance analysis of the balance sheets and income statements to prior periods and budget. The Senior Accountant, BioSteel will also assist in other day to day accounting and finance activities of the organization. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a growing, fast-faced business.
Responsibilities
  • For Biosteel will close the month end by:
    • Preparing and processing journal entries as they relate to the entity’s general ledger
    • Reviewing income statement accounts and preparing appropriate adjustments/accruals (month-end journal entries)
    • Preparing and posting manual journal entries from bank statements and other supporting documentation to the G/L
    • Performing reconciliations of the entity’s balance sheet accounts
    • Complete intercompany reconciliation and post any required entries to the G/L
    • Reviewing and preparing financial statement variance analysis to prior periods and budget
    • Preparing month-end reporting package upload to consolidation team at BioSteel
  • Oversee AP, AR, Revenue Accountants to ensure prompt follow-up on key accounts
  • Prepare regulatory filings (Sales taxes, recycling program, etc.)
  • Prepare schedules and reconciliations for internal and external auditors
  • Assist in the calculation, presentation, and communication of the entity’s KPI’s and cash flow analysis
  • Other adhoc projects, as required
  • Other duties as assigned
Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance/Accounting/Business or equivalent required
  • 3-5 years of accounting experience
  • Accounting designation (CPA, CA, CMA or CGA) preferred
  • Experience with accounting and/or enterprise reporting systems preferred
  • Knowledge of financial concepts and principles
  • Ability to interpret financial reports, ledgers, graphs and tables
  • Strong analytical skills with attention to detail
  • Strong problem solving and critical thinking
  • Results and task oriented
  • Flexible and able to prioritize tasks
  • Strong work ethic and proven ability to meet deadlines
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to interact with all levels of the organization
Other Details
This is a full-time remote role though candidates from Toronto will have the ability to work in the Toronto office when necessary.

Assists patients and caregivers through the dispensary process/experience Helps to trains other team members in the use of cannabis-based medicines Completes operational requirements by maintaining an organized work flow; verifying preparation and labeling of medications, verifying order entries and charges Must comply with all state laws and regulations Participates in recordkeeping and reporting necessary for State Compliance Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with custodial procedures, rules, and regulations. Evaluate new patient eligibility and recruitment for the study.</p><p>- Collect research data and qualitative assessment for appropriate follow-up.</p><p>- Assist Santé Cannabis physicians in assessing, tracking and monitoring patients for cannabinoid and cannabis treatment and developing comprehensive treatment plans.</p><p>- Consult with physicians and cannabis educators regarding treatment plans, initiation and dosage adjustment of cannabis.</p><p>- Provide individualized education and consultation to Santé Cannabis clients and patients, including implementation of a medical treatment plan, individual needs assessment, selection of licensed producers and cannabis strains, safe and effective use, and provide ongoing support and monitoring.</p><p>- Prepares letters and administrative communications in support of patient treatment plans as assigned.</p><p>- Discusses patient treatment with referring physicians and nurses, supports referring physicians via telephone when patients are discharged from the hospital.</p><p>- Develop and/or administer clinical and study questionnaires to meet clinical objectives.</p><p>- Conduct home visits according to specific trial protocol when applicable.</p><p>- Perform blood draws according to specific trial protocol when applicable.</p><p>- Support the development of protocols, resources and tools - Support the implementation of Santé Cannabis's cannabis training and preceptorship program by providing individual training and support to trainees and completing required documentation.</p><p>- Develop educational programs and tools for Santé Cannabis clients Support Santé Cannabis physicians in assessing patients for cannabinoid and cannabis treatment and developing comprehensive treatment plans - Consult on the development of education and outreach program procedures and practice with the operational and medical team - Attend monthly medical team meetings as needed - Support the Executive Committee with the development and implementation of projects as needed - Raising awareness of the clinic and services in the Montreal area - Participate in conferences, presentations and public relations for clinics in the province of Quebec - Prepare presentations as required Qualifications: B.Sc.</p><p>in nursing, or DEC in nursing with at least 3 years of clinical experience -English and French written and spoken -Valid license with the OIIQ, member in good standing -Valid driver's license -Minimum of 2 years experience in patient care, clinical research experience an asset -Strong verbal and written communication skills -Strong writing skills -
