QUALITY CONTROL ASSOCIATE

Location: Bradford, ON

Aurora Cannabis Inc. is currently recruiting for a Quality Control Associate to join our Bradford, Ontario facility. The employee will report to the Manager Quality .

MAIN RESPONSILBITIES:

• Promote positive safety culture through participation, and adherence to, HSE programs

• Promote positive working relationships with all departments

• Understand, interpret, and apply regulatory, GACP, GPP and GMP requirements

• Act as an ambassador for regulatory and process compliance

• Provide guidance to procurement on suitability of materials for purchase

• Ability to organize and facilitate multi-disciplinary research projects, and organize and implement scientific experiments and/or procedures

• Develop direct-input and finished product specifications ensuring EU/USP compliance

• Manage the sampling, submission, and lab tracking of all Cannabis samples for release

• Manage the site/lab relationships, and tracking conformance of lab result TAT

• Complete investigation of any OOS, prepare report and direct disposition

• Support investigation and risk assessments related to product NCR as required

• Write, revise, and continuously improve in-scope SOPs ensuring compliance

• Responsible for the maintenance (site-level), conformance and management of:

• Controlled, Bulk and Final Material Sampling & Approved Materials List

• Specifications for all product categories (spec tables) & associated CoA/CoMs

• Specification Creation/ERP Inspection Plan (with QA Supervisor – Floor support)

• Environmental Monitoring (with QA Supervisor – Floor support)

• Participate in Annual Product Quality Review

• Participate in Internal and External Audits, as required

• Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:

• A Canadian (or assessed as equivalent) B.Sc. degree or equivalent in an applicable discipline of science (chemistry, biochemistry, microbiology, chemical engineering, medicine, horticulture, medical laboratory science or related).

• Three (3) years’ experience in Quality Control/Assurance.

• Functional understanding of HPLC, GC-MS, ICP-MS, spectroscopy, and plant sciences

• Knowledge of Quality Assurances programs such as GMP, HACCP and ISO.

• Strong team facilitation/leadership skills with a commitment to team development.

• Strong interpersonal, and communication skills (verbal and written).

• Leadership / team facilitation skills.

• Analytical, problem solving, and decision-making skills.

• Proficient with standard office technology such as Microsoft Office and ERP systems

The successful candidate will be required to have some flexibility in their schedule to meet the needs of the facility. The incumbent will report directly to the Quality Assurance Supervisor at River (Bradford, On), and will be responsible for the following:</b></p><p><b>RESPONSIBILITIES:</b></p><p>• Promote positive safety culture through participation and adherence to HSE programs</p><p>• Promote positive working relationships with all departments</p><p>• Act as an ambassador for regulatory and process compliance</p><p>• Participate in self-inspection process</p><p>• Ensure all labels generated comply to current Cannabis Regulations and in-house specifications</p><p>• Ensure all secondary packaging generated complies to current Cannabis Regulations and in-house specifications</p><p>• Work closely with Quality Control to ensure all 3rd party lab results are reviewed and product potencies and packaged on dates are verified prior to approving labels</p><p>• Initiate Master Label Approval form</p><p>• Receive and approve labels and secondary packaging materials</p><p>• Ensure proper use of quarantine and hold where required on product/material and update the Inventory tracking system</p><p>• Work closely with QA Auditors or equivalent to ensure secondary verification of labels and secondary packaging material</p><p>• Manage label storage and organization and reconciliations of labels</p><p>• Issue batch record and labels to production</p><p>• Generation, implementation, and continuous improvement of Quality procedures relating to label process</p><p>• Participation in external and internal audits as required</p><p>• All other duties as assigned</p><p><b>REQUIREMENTS</b></p><p>• 1-2 years’ experience in the Quality Assurance/ Quality Control Field</p><p>• Degree or diploma in a science related field, or equivalent work experience</p><p>• Understanding of Quality Management Systems including batch record review, batch release, document control, change control, deviations, investigations and CAPA</p><p>• Fluency in MS Office is mandatory</p><p>• Competency of technological writing (SOPs, Annual Reports, Investigation Summary)</p><p>• Ability to work independently, with a strong attention to detail</p><p>• Ability to multitask and adapt to an evolving environment</p><p>• Ability to both speak and write clearly in English</p><p>• Experience working in a regulated environment, pharmaceuticals, or natural health product manufacturing environment is preferred</p><p>• Knowledge of cannabis regulation and working experience in Cannabis industry is an asset</p><p>As a condition of employment, all candidates must provide proof of vaccination against COVID-19 or receive an approved medical or human rights accommodation prior to commencing employment with Aurora. The Quality Assurance Supervisor MAY be QAP on site and would be responsible for finished product release for further processing and/or sale.</p><p>Cayuga is an outdoor grow site that runs seasonally from April 1 until December 1 annually.
