JUNIOR PROJECT MANAGER, INFORMATION SERVICES


Aurora Cannabis is looking for a Junior Project Manager to join our Information Services team in the fast-paced cannabis industry. The success candidate will be accountable for delivering multiple IS projects in alignment with the Aurora System Development Life Cycle (SDLC). This person will ensure projects are delivered with high quality, and on schedule and budget.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Assist Program Manager in the direction and planning of all aspects of a project including: gathering and defining comprehensive project requirements, ensuring strategic alignment, developing project charters, project plans, resource plans, presentations, budgets, and schedules
  • Work with business leaders and stakeholders to deliver complex multi-stream projects
  • Prepare project plans, project schedules, risk mitigation and status reporting within Aurora’s project management standards and methodologies
  • Coordinate all activities of the project team to drive accountability in ensuring project tasks to completion; develop/maintain key documents and information sharing across relevant stakeholders;
  • Control project costs, maintain and track capital and operating expenditures for projects
  • Review and resolve concerns regarding issues and performance of the project
  • Identifies project risks and ensures strategies are in place for each to prevent adverse impacts to the successful delivery of the project
  • Work with the PMO to continue to develop best practices and tools for project execution and management
  • Delegates tasks to appropriate project team members and ensure on time completion
  • Coaches, motivates, and leads project team members and influence them to take positive action and accountability and ensure appropriate quality for their assigned work
  • Develop and implement effective reporting to keep project stakeholders and senior management informed on key project metrics

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively with team members and business stakeholders for successful project completion
  • Knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, Project, and Outlook)
  • Experience with PPM toolsets (Smartsheet, JIRA, Azure DevOps)
  • Experience estimating projects with varying budgets and details
  • Ability to successfully manage small and large budgets
  • Strong work ethic, highly motivated and enjoys a challenge
  • Detail conscious and result oriented
  • High level of professionalism, integrity and ethics
  • Willing and able to learn new skills and concepts quickly
  • Enjoys a multi-faceted and dynamic work environment
  • Able to prioritize and be flexible, while maintaining efficiency

JOB REQUIREMENTS:
  • Between 2-5 years of project management experience
  • Successful direct management of IT projects ranging from $50,000 to $1,000,000
  • Proven ability to deliver clear and concise project documentation
  • Proven ability to communicate with all levels of management, both verbally and in writing
  • Proven ability to lead a project team, eliminate roadblocks, and manage risks
  • Ability to demonstrate high level functional and/or technical understanding of the scope of their projects
  • Ability to forecast resource requirements effectively
  • Proven success implementing applications projects from start to finish
  • Ability to pick up projects mid-stream and deliver the projects to successful completion
  • Experience with agile methodology
  • Experience with Business Intelligence & Data Science, Software and Application Development, and/or Infrastructure projects is considered an asset
  • PMI Certification is an asset
