Introduction


Our Embark team is looking for a talented professional with a passion for accounting to join the Finance department in either BC or Ontario location. In this role you will be working with all departments across the organization to process invoices, obtain approvals, execute payments and ensure the accuracy of the system in pursuit of these objectives

The Accounts Payable Clerk is directly responsible for processing all invoices received for payment and for undertaking the payment in accordance with terms and in compliance with internal financial policies and procedures for Embark Health Inc & its subsidiaries. Daily duties will include data entry and disbursement of non-payroll accounts payable to individuals, suppliers, corporations, and other entities according to the approved schedule. This includes maintaining ledgers, credit balances, and account irregularities. This position involves diplomatic interaction to provide billing information and support to facilitate daily bank reconciliations.

Position Overview


  • Review incoming invoices to the Company for potential errors and/or discrepancies, and ensure three-way matching
  • Obtain approval for disbursements and ensure all proposed payments have been approved in accordance with the Company’s approval authority limits.
  • Prepare, propose, and fill out payments to third parties, whether by credit card, EFT, wire, or cheque.
  • Reviews purchase requests for materials, supplies, equipment, and other collateral; verifies that orders are charged to the proper accounts.
  • Review all credit balances, refunds, and adjustments, and apply adjustments and/or corrections to corporate billing records.
  • Balance daily A/P batches; prepare and distribute payment reports and statistics to key personnel.
  • Ensure period end cut-off and prepare period end accruals.
  • Ensure the strict confidentiality and privacy of financial records as they relate to the organization and its business partners.
  • Investigate payment problems while following corporate A/P policies and procedures.
  • Perform day to day financial transactions and data entry, including verifying, positing, and recording accounts payable data.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Company


  • Minimum diploma in accounting, finance or related field required.
  • Working towards a CPA designation preferred.
  • 2+ years in an accounts payable function.
  • Excellent understanding of general accounting practices, procedures, and principles.
  • Office environment at a manufacturing facility
  • Working extra time as needed to complete time sensitive tasks
  • Experience in manufacturing an asset.
  • Demonstrated ability to accurately calculate, post, correct, and manage accounting figures and financial records.
  • Strong understanding of period cut-off and accruals.
  • Strong knowledge of payment regulations and fair credit practices.
  • Ability to self-manage with remote supervision.
  • Proficiency with Sage X3 and the MS Suite of programs.
  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written.

Monitors customer accounts for non-payment, delayed payment, overpayment, and other irregularities.
