Key Responsibilities:

  • Ability to hold and maintain a Security Clearance as per ACMPR;
  • Work safely with hazardous materials, follow safety procedures;
  • Work in an industrial/production laboratory setting to extract cannabinoids from cannabis plant material and formulate cannabis oil;
  • Operate instruments and equipment such as HPLC, rotary evaporator, etc.;
  • Prepare samples for the analysis of cannabinoid concentration using HPLC for extract and finished oil;
  • Perform HPLC testing to determine cannabinoid concentration of the extract and finished oil;
  • Collaborate to create, implement and maintain standard operating procedures to produce cannabis oil;
  • Look for ways to continually improve extraction procedures to minimize cost and maximize output;
  • Follow good laboratory practices;
  • Other duties as may be required.

Qualifications:

  • Diploma from a recognized institution in Chemistry/Medical Laboratory or equivalent is required. BSc. in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Medical Laboratory Science would be considered an asset;
  • Industry experience with extraction systems (academia, pharmaceutical, natural products, essential oils, etc.) will be considered an asset;
  • Proficient in Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Excel;
  • Strong communication (written and verbal) skills.
