Job Summary

We are seeking a qualified person to fill the key role of Quality Assurance Associate (QAA) in a Health Canada licensed facility located in Fort Erie, Ontario. The QAA will assist us in implementing, managing and monitoring our QMS which includes procedures related to vendor qualification, processing, packaging, labeling, and storage of cannabis.

Key Accountabilities

  • Assist in the establishment and enforcement of GAP, GPP, GMP, GLP and HACCP and quality assurance standards, providing technical and regulatory input for packaging, labeling and storage
  • Assist in ensuring compliance with Cannabis Act and Regulations, Pesticides Act and Regulations, and Health Canada’s QA guidelines pertaining to business, facility, security, storage, packaging, labeling of Cannabis products
  • Review lot coding of incoming bulk cannabis and the resultant finished goods to ensure compliance
  • Assist in ensuring that destruction of refused and or waste products are managed and destroyed as per current approved SOPs in line with the Cannabis Regulations
  • Assist in coordination of all key product quality issues such as complaint handling, recall coordination, investigations on deviations/failures and implementing corrective and preventive actions (CAPA), to close out quality and security gaps
  • Assist in review of the status of process materials and ensure proper control, release and transfer of materials through proper documentation and/or Inventory System
  • Assist in ensuring Corrective Action and Preventative Action (CAPA) investigations are conducted and recorded appropriately and closed in a timely manner
  • Assist in coordination of external testing of materials/products and perform in-house testing of bulk and finished product as per approved specifications
  • Assist in the oversight of an effective sanitation program to ensure packaging, labeling and storage activities are conducted under sanitary conditions
  • Assist in the maintenance of all technical documents pertaining to standard operating procedures
  • Assist in the drafting, review, and maintenance of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
  • Train staff in SOPs to ensure the correct implementation in operations and regulatory compliance
  • Review testing raw data, analytical reports and Certificate of Analysis (CoA) of each product batch prior to its release for sale

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in a technical discipline (Food, Chemical or Biological Sciences preferred)
  • 3+ years of experience as a Quality Assurance Associate in a GAP, GPP, GMP, GLP and HACCP regulated environment, with proficiency in quality assurance systems, documentation, and testing methods
  • Proficient in written and spoken English
  • Strong and current knowledge of Good Production Practice, Good Agricultural Practice, Good Manufacturing Practice, Good Laboratory Practice, HACCP, Food Safety, regulatory and environmental guidelines
  • Experience in identifying GPP gaps with experience in writing SOPS, work instructions, HACCP plans, and identifying omissions within regulatory requirements
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite software (Excel, Outlook, Word)
  • Able to pass security clearance checks and approved by Health Canada
  • Able to successfully obtain AQAP designation from Health Canada
  • Qualified to work legally in Canada
